Kennebunkport at Christmas
New England is known for its Christmas towns. From Newport to Portsmouth to Stockbridge, these towns put on a show around Christmas with wreaths, garland and red bows galore. Many of the festivities this year were trimmed down but not the decor. It was top-notch (if not better than ever to lift everyone’s spirits).
We traveled to Kennebunkport mid-December to visit our first “Christmas town” and it lived up to the hype. The town was covered with festive decor that made us feel like we were in a magical Christmas village. Scroll through the pictures below to see how Kennebunkport does Christmas.

There were many more photogenic spots that my Iphone couldn’t capture properly - from the town’s lobster-crowned tree to the garland around Allison’s Restaurant. There are also many shops with unique gifts to give to loved one.
We loved traveling the short distance to Cape Porpoise to see their lobster trap tree at the fire station and ate lunch across the street at Musette Restaurant (the food was great!).
A highlight of the trip was visiting the buoy Christmas tree in Wells Harbor. The tree is super cool up close. It stands at the end of a long dock overlooking a HUGE harbor. The tree was a collaboration between the town, high school art dept and local “Friends of Wells” group - a true community project!
New England has so many great towns. Consider visiting Woodtock, VT and Rockport, Mass - two scenic and historic towns with great shopping.
